Standard Policy
Jasper Lumber Company, Inc.
Southern Wood Chips, Inc.

Jasper Lumber Company, Inc. and Southern Wood Chips (the Company) is committed to implementing and achieving the Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI) Standard (2005-2009 Edition) as part of its wood procurement program. The SFI Policy and promotional materials are communicated throughout the organization and to others in the forestry community.

The Company promotes scientifically, environmentally, socially and economically sustainable forestry practices to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. This is accomplished by promoting a land stewardship ethic that integrates reforestation, growing, and harvesting of trees for useful products with the conservation of soil, air and water quality, biological diversity, wildlife and aquatic habitat, recreation and aesthetics.

The Company's SFI Policy is to implement and achieve the Principles of Sustainable Forest Management including: practicing sustainable forestry, employing responsible practices, regenerating the forest and maintaining productive capacity, protecting and maintaining long-term forest and soil productivity, protecting water resources, protecting special sites and biological diversity, complying with legal requirements, and continually improving forest practices.

The Company is also committed to comply with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, including social laws, and will take appropriate steps to comply. The company works closely with the Alabama SFI Implementation Committees and Alabama Forestry Association to expand professionalism and the practice of sustainable forestry.

To implement and achieve the SFI Standard Principles, Objectives, Performance Measures and Indicators, The Company has developed and adopted appropriate programs and procedures to guide its wood procurement activities. These programs and procedures are contained in the SFI Evidence Manual, the SFI Procurement Program and other relevant documents.
The company is committed to annually review the effectiveness of its SFI Policy and Programs and to continually improve performance.
